Real Sociedad Sneak Closer to Copa del Rey Final

Real Sociedad scraped by on Thursday night, 13 February, with a 2-1 victory over Mirandes to secure a potential place in the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao.

The Royals were the first on the scoreboard when skipper Mikel Oyarzabal netted a penalty in the ninth minute, after Odei Onaindia chalked up a foul on midfielder Portu.

However, Mirandes made things even in the 39-minute mark, thanks to forward Matheus Rodrigues. Unfortunately, the game did not end there as La Real responded with another goal just two minutes later from Norwegian talent, Martin Odegaard, to make it 2-1.

Despite their number of errors, Real Sociedad appeared in control the whole match with more passes and greater possession to earn them their victory.

The Spanish outfit is not out of the woods yet, as there is still the second leg of the semis to be played before the final can be confirmed.
