Pupkewitz Nissan yesterday extended its sponsorship of the Namibian Rugby Union (NRU) for another year.

Pupkewitz Nissan handed over two double-cab Nissan Navaras, one Nissan NP200 bakkie and a Nissan Magnite sedan to the NRU at the Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek. NRU president Petrie Theron said: “Namibians and many Namibian fans around the world hold rugby very close to their hearts. That is why it is a satisfying and humbling experience to join forces with a sponsor like Pupkewitz Motors.

“We want to take this opportunity to thank Pupkewitz Motors for their investment and support. Namibia is making history with its seventh participation in the 2023 Rugby World Cup in Paris, France.”

Get into rugby

“Pupkewitz already kicked off with this sponsorship last year and thought it good to extend it for 2023,” said Janse Jansen van Rensburg, dealer principal of Nissan.

“Our partnership with the NRU and national team is an exciting one, and we are going to get involved in the community with the #GetIntoRugby programme. The sole purpose is to promote the sporting code in Namibia as well as internationally.

“The future of rugby in Namibia is bright, both locally and internationally, and we are honoured to be part of the new chapter. Rugby promotes values such as integrity and respect, which are the same as those of the Pupkewitz Motors group.”

More than a partnership

John Heynes, NRU chief executive officer, said: “We have been walking a path with Pupkewitz Nissan since 2022 and I must say it has been an easy journey. Janse Jansen van Rensburg has a brilliant team at Nissan that has supported the NRU incredibly well. Thank you very much for your insight, vision and help.
