Manchester City Serve Liverpool Bruising 0-4 Defeat

Liverpool may have won the English Premier League (EPL) war, but they lost the battle 0-4 to Manchester City last night, Thursday 2 July.

The Reds were caught completely off-guard by Pep Guardiola’s team throughout their EPL game at Etihad Stadium.

The first half saw goals from Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden before the whistle. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain completed the drubbing with a successful strike at the 66th minute to make the score four goals unanswered at close.

Liverpool coach, Jurgen Klopp, maintains that he saw “decent chances”, and that his squad showed “the right attitude”, but accepted the result begrudgingly.

However, Klopp’s irritation at the loss showed during a post-match interview when he said: “We had moments, but you watch a game completely calm. Why do you ask me if we had decent chances? This makes no sense, this question.”

Despite the thrashing, the Anfield team still have opportunities to set further records, such as beating City’s record for most points in an EPL season, and finishing the 2019/20 campaign with 104 points if they win their remaining four games.
