Angel Gomes Departs from the Red Devils

Manchester United announced that attacking midfielder, Angel Gomes, has exited from the club after declining to sign a new deal.

The English outfit confirmed the news in a statement posted to their website on Wednesday, 1 July.

They wrote: “Everybody at Manchester United would like to wish [Gomes] the very best of luck for the future and thank him for his efforts for the club.”

The Red Devils reportedly offered to pay Gomes around £30 000 a week, which the teen’s representatives turned down.

At the age of 16, Gomes made his debut for United’s first team in 2017. Since then, he has only made 10 squad appearances in the English Premier League, and made only three appearances in the Europa League.

His last appearance for the club came in the 4-0 defeat of Norwich City at Old Trafford in January.

Having left United on a free transfer, Gomes is now free to find a new soccer club where he can ply his trade.
