Zinedine Zidane Faces Heat from Real Madrid

Real Madrid head coach, Zinedine Zidane, is reportedly on thin ice following his side’s dismal UEFA Champions League loss to FC Shakhtar Donetsk.

Los Blancos were defeated 2-0 by the Ukrainian club at the Olimpiyskiy National Sports Complex yesterday, Tuesday 1 December. Three days prior to this loss, they were beaten 2-1 by Alaves in a La Liga match-up.

In total, Real Madrid have won only four of their past 11 games across all competitions, which has reportedly put Zidane’s coaching abilities under scrutiny by the Spanish club’s top brass.

However, in the press conference after the Shakhtar Donetsk match, the 48-year-old Frenchman was adamant that he was not resigning.

He said: “We are always going to have difficult moments, and we are on a bad run, but we need to keep going. I have the strength needed to turn the situation around and I am going to give everything to do that.”

No doubt Zidane’s superiors will hold him to his word when Real Madrid face Sevilla in La Liga competition this Saturday, 5 December.
