Willian to Leave Chelsea, but Not Europe

Willian recently admitted that the odds of him leaving Chelsea at the end of the current season are high, and several large European clubs are keeping a close watch.

The 31-year-old Brazilian revealed that contract negotiations are at a stalemate – particularly over the length of his club engagement – and no agreements have been reached, so now he is looking for greener pastures in Europe.

In an interview, the winger said: “Everyone knows my contract is up in a few months and it looks like it’ll be difficult to secure an extension.”

He had originally asked for a three-year contract, but Chelsea only offered him two.

Willian added: “We don’t know what might happen. We might suddenly reach an agreement, but what I can say today is that my contract is up and I’ll be free to negotiate with any club.”

The footballer had started his career with Brazilian team, Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, and it has also been hinted that should he return to his home country, he will return to the team.

Other clubs that have shown interest in him include Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
