As the football season has ground to a halt in light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, English Premier League (EPL) chiefs are desperately searching for solutions, and one proposal put forward is to complete the season in China.

In a recent video interview, an unidentified club executive said: “The country that keeps getting proposed is China.”

He went on: “It is a crazy idea and I think it will get firmly rejected … Somebody accused us the other day of being in a bubble. I feel a little bit like they are right at the moment – even though I am not, I can see why people think we are.”

Many are reluctant to move the football competition to the country where the pandemic originated from, but officials are considering the proposal due to the limited options available.

The ongoing suspension is predicted to cost EPL clubs £762 million in losses from broadcasters should the 2019/20 season not continue. League and club officials are understandably in dire straits to find solutions.
