Wednesday Gaming – Hearthstone, Studio Closures, Apex Legends and MORE!

– Benjamin Goodman, the Associate Community Manager for the game “Hearthstone”, says that Blizzard Entertainment will investigate players’ claims that one of their artists, Treye Fore, used AI to create upcoming pixel art-inspired Hero skins.

– Over a month after shutting down its failed PS5 live-service shooter, “Concord”, Sony is now closing down Firewalk Studios, the company that developed it.

– Additionally, Sony is shuttering Neon Koi, the German mobile game-focused studio they acquired last year. According to an email from Studio Business Group CEO Hermen Hulst: “We need to concentrate on titles that are in-line with PlayStation Studios’ pedigree and have the potential to reach more players globally. With this re-focused approach, Neon Koi will close, and its mobile action game will not be moving forward.”

– According to EA CEO Andrew Wilson, there are no future plans to launch a sequel or replacement for the company’s popular battle royale-hero shooter, “Apex Legends.”

– In other EA-related news, “The Sims 4” gained more than 15 million new players in the past year alone.
