Watford Sack Coach Sanchez Flores

Struggling English Premier League (EPL) outfit, Watford FC, has sacked coach Quique Sanchez Flores following the club’s recent string of poor performances.

Sanchez Flores was in charge of the Hornets for only 85 days, during which the club won only one of their 10 league matches, drawing four and losing the other five.

They currently rank 20th in the Premier League standings – in last place with just eight points.

After picking up a 2-1 loss to Southampton on Saturday, 30 November, Scott Duxbury – Watford’s chairman and CEO – revealed in a statement the next day that Sanchez Flores had been fired.

Duxbury said: “[Sanchez Flores] is a man of great integrity and it was clear how much he wanted to have a positive impact, but ultimately results have dictated our decision.”

He added: “The appointment of a new head coach is imminent, and with nearly two-thirds of the season remaining, we will provide all the support necessary to make the coming months successful.”

The club is reportedly hoping to appoint their new head coach in the next 24 hours.
