Tottenham: Hugo Lloris Sidelined Until 2020

Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a huge bow, after goalkeeper Hugo Lloris dislocated his left elbow during the club’s clash against Brighton on Saturday, 5 October.

The injured 32-year-old Frenchman was stretchered off the field after falling to the ground when he failed to intercept a cross. He was replaced by Paulo Gazzaniga.

Tottenham went on to lose 3-0 to Brighton.

In a statement released on Monday, 7 October, the club confirmed Lloris’ injury, and that he will be out of action for the rest of the year.

The statement reads: “The findings have shown that although surgery will not be required, our club captain has suffered ligament damage and is not expected to return to training before the end of 2019.”

It added: “[Lloris] is currently in a brace, and will now undergo a period of rest and rehabilitation under the supervision of our medical staff at Hotspur Way.”

Additionally, the goalkeeper – who also captains the French national team – is to miss the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers for France against Iceland, Turkey, Albania and Moldova.
