Theo Walcott Returns to Southampton

Fourteen years after leaving Southampton, Theo Walcott is returning to Goodison Park for a season-long loan from Everton.

The 31-year-old winger – who only made two appearances so far for the Toffees during the 2020/2021 English Premier League season – sealed the loan deal on Monday, 5 October, according to a statement from Southampton.

He reportedly earns £100 000 a week at Everton; however, the Saints will pay 50% of his wages for the rest of the season.

After rising through Southampton’s youth academy, Walcott debuted for the club in August 2005 at the age of 16. Five months later, he joined Arsenal for £5 million and spent 12 years there.

In January 2018, he transferred to Everton for £20 million, where he made 85 appearances.

Walcott commented on the move in the statement: “I had a few opportunities from other clubs, but as soon as Southampton came in for me, it’s part of me and has made me into the player I am. It’s in my heart.”
