Sterling to Test for COVID-19 After Partying with Bolt

Raheem Sterling will be tested for coronavirus before he can join the English squad before they enter a protective bubble – following revelations that he was partying with Usain Bolt, who allegedly tested positive for the coronavirus(COVID-19).

The eight-time Olympic champion celebrated his 34th birthday on Friday, 21 August, in Jamaica with a party that didn’t adhere to strict COVID-19 guidelines: in a video posted on social media, no facial masks or social distancing were observed.

Bolt’s party guests included Sterling, West Indies cricketer, Chris Gayle, and Bayer Leverkusen winger, Leon Bailey.

On Monday, 24 August, a Jamaica radio station revealed that the Olympic legend has tested positive for COVID-19 and is in self-isolation.

The radio report prompted the sprinter to post a video on Twitter confirming that he was self-isolating after taking a COVID-19 test. However, the athlete didn’t confirm or deny the positive result claims.

Chris Gayle tested negative for the virus, and is now set to join his team for the new Indian Premier League season.

Although Sterling tested negative in Jamaica, he’ll have to undergo another round of testing upon his return to the UK before joining the England squad set to face Iceland on Saturday, 5 September.
