Sergio Aguero Sidelined by Hamstring Injury

Manchester City are facing a major setback after their record goalscorer, Sergio Aguero, was injured during an English Premier League (EPL) match against West Ham last Saturday, 24 October.

Aguero – who was playing his third game since June after recovering from knee surgery – sustained an injury to his hamstring at half-time, and was replaced by Phil Foden.

The Citizens went on to draw 1-1 with the Hammers.

Speaking ahead of his side’s UEFA Champions League match against Marseille today, Tuesday 27 October, coach Pep Guardiola revealed that the 32-year-old striker will not be playing, and could be out for a minimum of two weeks.

Guardiola explained: “If it’s a little bit longer, it will be three weeks, one month. The muscular [injuries] normally don’t move away from these parameters. And the case of [Aguero] will be the same, there will be no exception … hopefully he comes back and will be as fit as possible.”

Aguero is also likely to miss City’s EPL clash on Sunday, 8 November against current champions, Liverpool.
