Ronaldo Sets Yet Another Record

Cristiano Ronaldo has added another accolade to his record-breaking career becoming the first European player to reach 100 international goals.

The 35-year-old footballer reached this milestone after scoring twice in Portugal’s 2-0 win over a 10-man Sweden during a UEFA Nations League match yesterday, 8 September.

Swedish midfielder, Gustav Svensson, was sent off just before half-time for collecting a second yellow card, leading to a free kick that Ronaldo used to send the ball into the top corner, bringing up his landmark century.

The Juventus forward also curled in a second goal from the edge of the penalty area during the 72nd minute, giving his team the victory.

Ronaldo, who missed Portugal’s Nations League opener against Croatia on Saturday with a toe injury, says that he has set his sights on Iranian Ali Daei’s world record for a male international of 109 goals.

He said: “I managed to beat this milestone of 100 goals and now (I’ll go) for the record. It’s step-by-step. I am not obsessed because I believe the records come in a natural way.”
