Ronaldo Scores His Way Into the History Books

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 700th career goal during Portugal’s 1-2 loss to Ukraine in a Euro 2020 qualifying match on Monday, 14 October.

The 34-year-old superstar hit the historic milestone in the 72nd minute, from a penalty shot. The goal allowed him to join the illustrious list of players who have scored over 700 goals.

He is now the sixth player to manage such a feat, and joins the likes of Pele, Ferenc Puskas, Gerd Muller, Romario and the legendary Josef Bican.

Even though his golden goal was not enough to prevent Portugal from suffering their first defeat since the 2018 FIFA World Cup, he walked away a completely different footballer.

During his career, Ronaldo has scored five goals for Sporting CP; 118 for Manchester United; 450 for Real Madrid; 32 for Juventus; and now 95 for Portugal.

The Portuguese footballer once again beat long-standing rival, Lionel Messi, to another career record – the Argentine currently has 672 goals to his name.
