Ronaldo Inches Closer to Goal-Scoring Record

Cristiano Ronaldo will soon break a new football record, after he scored his 99th goal for Portugal during their 2-0 win over Luxembourg on Sunday, 17 November.

The 34-year-old footballer found the back of the net four minutes before the final whistle of the match, helping his home team secure a spot for Euro 2020.

After the game, the football superstar confidently said: “All records must be broken and I will beat that record.”

Ronaldo is on the cusp of scoring a record 100 international goals – a feat previously accomplished by Iran’s Ali Daei, who scored 109 international goals before retiring in 2006.

However, he complained that Luxembourg’s pitch was like a “potato field” and feels he was not “100%” and “playing at a slightly reduced capacity”.

His next opportunity to become the second male player to the historic milestone will be during the international break in March.
