Ronaldo Creeps Closer to World Record

Cristiano Ronaldo is inching closer to yet another prominent footballing record, after he scored during Portugal’s 7-0 thrashing of Andorra at Estadio da Luz last night, Wednesday 11 November.

The 35-year-old Portuguese forward found the back of the net at the 85th minute, putting him at 102 goals in total from 168 appearances for the national team.

The current record for most goals scored while playing for a single club belongs to Iran’s Ali Daei, who set a world record for 109 goals in 149 appearances.

Ronaldo missed out on adding to his tally when Portugal held draws against Spain and France – just before he was told to self-isolate after testing positive for the coronavirus in mid-October.

However, the football superstar is looking set to surpass another footballing great and their world record: Pele and his 767 official goals.

Ronaldo is currently sitting at 746 goals – just 21 short of the legendary player’s tally.
