Richelieu Eagles ready for Hong Kong

The Trustco United Field is set to host what is expected to be a pulsating match between Namibia’s Richelieu Eagles and Hong Kong in the opening match of the Castle Lite Series this weekend.The first of three 50-over matches kicks off on Sunday at 09:30 and the Namibian squad is eager to continue with their recent fine form.”Bringing competitive, international cricket to home soil has been our mandate as a sports organisation, and we are eager to showcase the growth of Namibian cricket in every game Namibia competes in,” Cricket Namibia CEO Johan Muller said.The Eagles will come into the match oozing confidence after beating Zimbabwe in an historic T20I series about a fortnight ago.Namibia, which is currently ranked 17th in the world in ODIs with only 11 games under their belt, will be well aware that they are up against a different opponent with a whole new bowling technique.Fired upNational head coach Pierre de Bruyn, however, relished the opportunity to battle a well-equipped Hong Kong side.The coach also expects the players to be fired up and motivated given their recent success.”The players and the entire coaching staff are ready for this challenge.”These are quality opponents, and the boys have the details of the assignment,” he said.Cricket Namibia invites the Namibian public to support the Richelieu Eagles in the three-match tournament at United.The second match is slated for 9 and 12 June, with all matches set to begin at 09:30.
