Relegation-Threatened Watford Sacks Manager

Watford have dismissed their head coach, Nigel Pearson, with only two games remaining in the season, with an aim to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
Pearson had overseen a remarkable upturn after taking charge in December – he moved the club off the bottom of the Premier League table and seven points adrift from safety to give them a fighting chance. However, he has failed to maintain the same standard since the EPL returned in June, after their COVID-19 break.
According to reports, Pearson had a disagreement with club owner Gino Pozzo, following Watford’s 3-1 loss to West Ham United on Friday, 17 July 2020.
The defeat followed valuable back-to-back wins over Norwich City and Newcastle United, but was critical as it left the team just three points clear of the relegation zone.
Pearson is the third manager to be sacked at Vicarage Road this season after Javi Gracia and Quique Sanchez Flores.
The Hornets are desperate to avoid relegation and therefore have appointed Hayden Mullins as interim coach to try and secure four points from their final two games against Manchester City and Arsenal.
