Nickelback: Do Not Look at This Photograph, Mr President

Canadian rock band Nickelback unwittingly became heroes after they copyright claimed a tweet made by US President Donald Trump on Wednesday, 2 October.

The tweet in question contained a music video of the band’s 2005 song “Photograph” and president Trump quoting the song’s opening lyrics in all-caps. However, the music video had been altered to be a subtle attack on former US vice president Joe Biden.

The edited music video contained a 2014 picture of Mr Biden and his son, Hunter, alongside Ukraine business associates, instead of Nickelback lead singer, Chad Kroeger.

The democratic presidential runner and his son have been criticised by president Trump in the past few days over their alleged business deals in Ukraine and China.

Less than 12 hours after the tweet was posted, it was removed due to a claim from the song’s copyright holder, Warner Music Group.

The tweet comes in the midst of mounting impeachment proceedings against President Trump.

Nickelback trended across social media and this time no longer as a joke, but for all the right reasons.
