Nghipandulwa in China for International Referee Experience

In his quest to become a FIFA-accredited referee, Samuel Mayele Nghipandulwa, has landed his first international development opportunity in China.

The 23-year-old from Ruacana has been invited to join the Tournaments Abroad Referee Academy, an international football refereeing development project which provides aspiring referees with a platform to acquire more skills by refereeing the world’s top youth tournaments in other countries.

This academy offers a great deal of development opportunities, and it is also supported by referee coaches and instructors who have extensive experience, and have been active in major football competitions governed by FIFA and UEFA.

Nghipandulwa travelled to Qingdao, China last week to honour the invitation. He has been placed in one of Tournaments Abroad’s most sophisticated international youth tournament – the Gothia Cup China 2019 – which kicked off on August 10 in Qingdao, China.

At the Gothia Cup China, he will a referee for various age categories under the observation and guidance of Detelin Baialtzaliev, a UEFA refereeing assistance programme instructor.

Nghipandulwa’s ultimate aim is to gain FIFA’s badge, and he believes this opportunity is one step closer to realizing his dream.

He said: “My aim is to eventually earn a Fifa badge when I reach the minimum age, and work my way towards appearing at the Fifa World Cup. Gaining international experience will help me reach my goal.”
