Mauricio Pochettino is a favourite to become Newcastle United FC’s new coach, and it appears that he has already identified a transfer target.

Last November, the 48-year-old Italian was abruptly sacked from his position of Tottenham Hotspur’s coach, due to the club’s dismal start to the 2019-20 season. He was then replaced by Jose Mourinho.

Now, Pochettino is being touted as the leading candidate to replace Steve Bruce as coach of Newcastle, which is currently in the process of being sold to a billionaire Saudi Arabian consortium.

According to reports, a deal between Pochettino and the Magpies has been agreed upon. What’s more, if he does get the job, the Italian supposedly intends to bring Spurs captain, Harry Kane, to the club.

Kane – who previously played under Pochettino – has yet to net any silverware with the Spurs after seven seasons. As a result, he admitted earlier this season that he could leave Tottenham if the club’s progress did not match his own ambitions.

Time will tell if Pochettino gets the job and signs over Kane.
