Mourinho Sweating Bullets after Homeground Defeat

Tottenham Hotspur manager, Jose Mourinho, has squared his shoulders for the mammoth task ahead after his team lost 1-0 on home soil to RB Leipzig last night, Thursday 19 February.

In the UEFA Champions League match, Spurs stumbled without a solid attack – forwards Son Heung-min and Harry Kane are both out with injuries – and the home crowd shared the agony of their team when Leipzig’s Timo Werner scored in the 58th minute with a well-placed penalty.

The visitors kept the pressure up until the final whistle blew, leaving Mourinho grasping for excuses, as well as primarily worrying over the absence of Son and Kane.

After the game, the 57-year-old Portuguese football boss said: “I’m not worried with the 1-0 [sic] – we can go there and win. What worries me is that these are our players for the next however many matches”

He quipped: “It’s a situation like going to fight with a gun without bullets.”

Spurs will face Leipzig again on 10 March for the second leg of the Champions League.
