Mourinho Makes Shock Statement After Spurs Loss

Tottenham Hotspur boss, Jose Mourinho, dropped a bombshell about his squad following their surprise 0-1 defeat to Royal Antwerp at Bosuilstadion in Antwerp, Belgium, on Thursday, 29 October 2020.

Mourinho started the game with his reserve lineup, which included the likes of Giovani Lo Celso, Steven Bergwijn, Carlos Vinicius and Dele Alli.

However, despite the players being sidelined for over a month, they failed to make an impression. Their poor performance triggered the 57-year-old Portuguese tactician to make four substitutions at the half-time whistle.

When asked during the post-match interview about his half-time substitution decision, an irritated Mourinho shockingly said: “I would like to make 11 [changes].”

Mourinho then took his frustration to Instagram, where he posted himself inside the team bus after the game, ordering his players to start training.

In the caption, he wrote: “Bad performances deserve bad results. Hope everyone in this bus is as upset as I am. Tomorrow [Friday, 30 October] 11 AM training.”

Former Arsenal defender, Martin Keown, criticised Mourinho’s actions as “childish” and said: “Some of those players would have been wounded at half-time when they were taken off, the likes of Dele Alli.”
