Messi, Ronald, Guardiola Donate €1M Each to Fight COVID-19

Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi, Juventus superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, have each donated €1 million to help battle against the coronavirus pandemic.

The money donated by Guardiola will be used in helping hospitals in Spain, the European country second-most impacted by cases of COVID-19.

The Argentinian captain’s donation will be split between the hospitals in Spain and his native country, Argentina.

The €1 million donated by Ronaldo and his agent, Jorge Mendes, will be used to help source crucial hospital equipment needed for three intensive care units in Portugal.

The football world, both clubs and individual players have been greatly involved in providing necessary resources to help combat COVID-19.

Recently, Brighton and Hove Albion football club launched a campaign encouraging other teams to offer free game tickets to National Health Service (NHS) workers after the coronavirus crisis is over.
