Liverpool: Virgil van Dijk to Undergo Knee Surgery

Liverpool player, Virgil van Dijk, will receive knee surgery this week following the club’s 2-2 draw to Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, 17 October.

The 29-year-old Dutch centre-back clashed with Toffees goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, near the goalposts just six minutes into the first half.

The challenge resulted in Reds boss, Jurgen Klopp, having to bring in a substitute for the injured player, while an assessment was done to determine the damage.

The next day, the club confirmed in a statement that van Dijk would have to receive knee surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament. However, they offered no timeframe for his recovery.

Nevertheless, an optimistic van Dijk took to social media that evening to share his thoughts.

He said: “This afternoon, I met with a leading consultant to start the process of planning the finer details of my rehabilitation following the incident yesterday. I’m now fully focused on my recovery and will do everything I can to be back as quickly as possible.”
