Liverpool Set To Be Crowned EPL Champions

After weeks of uncertainty, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are set to be crowned Premier League champions if the season cannot be completed.

The Premier League season has been suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak, and a number of huge decisions have been, which includes UEFA’s instruction that the season must finish by Tuesday, 30 June 2020, leaving open the possibility of cancellation.

Football leagues across Europe have been battling with finding solutions to end their domestic seasons, with suggestions ranging from declaring the season null and void, to finishing the remaining fixtures indoors.

However, on Thursday, 23 April, UEFA, stepped in to assist and ruled against seasons being declared null and void.

European football’s governing body have decided that the Champions League, and Europa League qualifications can be settled on sporting merit, if the games can’t be finished.

This means that the results so far will be used to help decide the final standings. The current top 4 teams of domestic campaigns will automatically enter the tournament next season.

On those grounds, Liverpool will end the season at the top of the league with 25 points ahead of defending champions, Manchester City.
