Liverpool Fight to Goalless Draw

Liverpool F.C. coach, Jurgen Klopp, was left deflated after his team battled Everton to a luckless draw without a single goal over the weekend for the coveted English Premier League (EPL) title.

The Reds made their first appearance on Sunday, 21 June, in nearly three months of match shutdown – a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the coronavirus – but ultimately found themselves denied derby points.

The homeside were especially plucky, frustrating the 53-year-old German’s squad of opportunities, despite Liverpool controlling the majority of possession throughout the game.

However, Klopp was pleased with how his team performed.

He said: “[Liverpool] didn’t have enough chances. Most of the time we were dominant, but they had the biggest chance.”

The football boss added: “It was a real fight. Both teams showed they understand it is a derby. Intense, physical, all players were all in.”

Liverpool need five more points to secure their first EPL title in nearly three decades: they are currently top of the log with 83 points; Manchester City is in second place with 60, and Leicester City in third with 54.
