Liverpool Agree on €20 million Fee for Thiago Alcantara

Liverpool are on the brink of sealing a deal for midfielder, Thiago Alcantara, as the club have agreed to pay the initial £20 million signing fee that Bayern Munich are asking for.

The 29-year-old Spaniard – who is regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world – has been linked with a move to Anfield for several months, following his confession that he would love to work with Liverpool coach, Jurgen Klopp.

However, the deal was delayed due to Klopp’s resistance on selling Gini Wijnaldum, as he is in the final year of his contract with the team.

The 53-year-old Liverpool manager was hoping to acquire the services of Thiago for free in January – when his contract with Bayern Munich expires.

The Reds are now stepping up their efforts to bag their target, after Manchester United and Barcelona both showed a keen interest in buying the midfielding talent.

Thiago is a highly regarded footballer, who played an integral part in Bayern’s stellar 2019/20 season and is expected to bring a different playing dimension to Liverpool’s midfield dynamic.
