Wantaway FC Barcelona star, Lionel Messi, has reportedly set his sights on joining English Premier League club, Manchester City.

On Tuesday, 25 August, the 33-year-old Argentine forward – who has been playing with the Spanish outfit since 2004 – sent shockwaves throughout the footballing world after it was revealed that he faxed management about quitting the club.

According to reports, Messi is intent on joining Manchester City, which is managed by his former mentor and Barca coach, Pep Guardiola.

Some media outlets say that Messi – whose current contract expires in 2021 – has already contacted Guardiola over the phone about a potential transfer from Camp Nou to Etihad Stadium.

Meanwhile, other outlets say that the forward’s father, Jorge, is currently in Manchester, England, to discuss terms over his son’s future.

Nevertheless, Manchester City remain firm favourites to sign Messi, with the English club said to have set aside €300 million from their transfer fund in order to attain his services.
