Let the beautiful game begin
Namibian female footballers are looking forward to the start of the FNB Women’s Super League this weekend, despite the fact that some players’ fitness is not up to scratch yet.
Something former Brave Gladiators captain and coach Mamie Kasaona, who now coaches and plays for Galz and Goals, said they will work on as they are excited to be back on the field.
“I’m looking forward to the kickoff, although there was nothing much prepared in terms of player preparation, which included no pre-tournament before the league kickoff,” she said.
Making a splash
On the other side, Unam Bokkies coach Thuba Sibanda said they are very excited for the start of the league and to finally have women’s football back after a long time.
“It’s going to be great to test our players on the field and see how we measure up against all the other teams. It’s good to see the league expand to 14 teams and get a new sponsor that’s backing us up with the quality we need to elevate the women’s game.
“The Bokkies are ready to compete and pick up from where we left off in the 2018-19 season. We have a young, dynamic squad that’s excited to test itself against the best players in the country. We are optimistic that we will make a splash this season,” concluded Sibanda.
