LA Wildfires: Arnold Schwarzenegger Makes Big Donation
Arnold Schwarzenegger is stepping up to support Los Angeles County, California following devastating wildfires that have affected thousands.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, 21 January, the actor and former governor of California announced a personal donation of $1 million.
The funds will be divided among three foundations: the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, the California Fire Foundation and Habitat for Humanity.
To further aid relief efforts, Schwarzenegger is also offering fans an opportunity to buy a T-shirt inspired by Venice Boardwalk’s popular bodybuilding shirts, with 100% of the profits going to the same charities.
“The shirt might look familiar – it’s based on an LA classic, the knock-off version of me they sell to tourists on the Venice Boardwalk, except I can use my image,” the 77-year-old “Terminator” star cheekily wrote.
The wildfires, which began on 7 January, have displaced many residents and resulted in at least 27 fatalities.
Schwarzenegger is among numerous celebrities – including Beyoncé, Leonardo DiCaprio, Paris Hilton, and Jamie Lee Curtis – who have contributed by donating money, clothing, or volunteering to aid those affected by the disaster. Additionally, companies such as Disney and Netflix have joined in to provide support for the victims.
