Kyle Walker Claims Harassment after Flouting Lockdown Again

Manchester United defender, Kyle Walker, claims he is being targeted by the press, after finding himself under fire again for breaking coronavirus (COVID-19) rules.

The 29-year-old footballer was recently caught in the first week of April going against social distancing regulations when he had a party with his family in Sheffield, England.

Walker apologised for his first transgression, but he contravened the rules for a second time on Wednesday, 6 May, when he visited his sister and family again.

On Thursday, 7 May, he took to Twitter to complain about his personal struggles and how the media have “followed” and “harassed” himself and his family.

He posted: “I have recently gone through one of the toughest periods of my life, which I take full responsibility for. However, I now feel as though I am being harassed.”

He continued: “This is no longer solely affecting me … At a time when the focus is understandably on Covid19 [sic], at what point does mental health get taken into consideration, an illness which affects every sufferer differently?”

Walker ended off the statement with the hope that people had a “better understanding” of his life after reading his sentiments.
