Kruse Calls Closed Door Matches “Boring”

The Bundesliga has restarted with some measure of success, but Max Kruse finds the games to be underwhelming due to lack of atmosphere from the missing fans.
The 32-year-old German forward – who plays for Turkish club, Fenerbahce SK – criticised the return of Europe’s first major football competition, calling it “boring” now that games are devoid of energetic fans.
The second division German football competition restarted last week Friday, 15 May – provided that strict testing procedures and social distancing regulations would be followed.
This included the stipulation that all games are to be played behind shut doors.
Speaking to a local football publication during an Instagram Live session, Kruse said: “The games were relatively boring without fans. Fans are part of football.”
According to Kruse, some regulations such as substitutes sitting two metres apart and wearing masks – but may remove them once on field – left him scratching his head.
Despite his criticism, Kruse was grateful that money was “flowing again” as a result of the Bundesliga’s return.
