Klopp Furious over Denied Penalties

Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp, has stated his frustration over his side being denied penalties in their 1-0 defeat against Southampton on Monday, 4 January.
Southampton’s Danny Ings stunned the current leaderboard leaders by scoring against them in the second minute of the match, ending Liverpool’s 12-game unbeaten run in the Premier League.
Klopp was aggrieved that the Reds were not awarded either of their two second-half penalty appeals, with a Kyle Walker-Peters challenge on Sadio Mane and Jack Stephens’ handball while blocking a Georginio Wijnaldum shot going unpunished by referee Andre Marriner.
Klopp also stoked the fire ahead of Manchester United’s trip to Anfield next weekend by comparing penalty records, claiming that the Red Devils “had more penalties in two years than [he] had in five-and-a-half years”.
Liverpool remain top ahead of Manchester United on goal difference despite this most recent defeat.
