Klopp: Alisson Out for Next Few Weeks
Liverpool’s golden boy, Alisson, is set to be sidelined “for the next few weeks” due to the calf injury he sustained in the recent season-opening 4-1 win against Norwich City.
The Brazilian goalkeeper was forced off the pitch in the 39th minute of the game, after his leg buckled while preparing to catch a goal-kick.
Coach Jurgen Klopp released an injury update on Monday, 12 August, confirming that he’ll be without his key goalkeeper for sometime.
He said: “It’s a calf injury, which takes him obviously out for a while.”
Many fans feared it could be for a longer period, and Klopp could not help but confirm their fears, saying: “I don’t want to make now [sic] [an] exact prognosis on when he will be back. It takes a while, it takes a couple of weeks for sure, and we have to see.”
However, he believes that Alisson hasn’t suffered many injury blows in his career, and therefore he might recover quicker than expected.
Alisson – who was instrumental in Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League title win in May – will certainly miss some of Liverpool’s big fixtures: a UEFA Super Cup final, and two games against major Premier League rivals, Arsenal and Chelsea.
