Kane Nets his 200th Goal in 300 Appearances for Spurs

Harry Kane scored his 200th goal for Tottenham Hotspur during an impressive performance by Jose Mourinho’s squad as they beat Ludogorets 3-1 in the Europa League on Thursday, 5 November 2020.

It was the England captain’s 300th appearance for the Spurs since he scored his first goal for the club nine years ago, when he was only 18 years old, in 2011.

Kane’s double century landmark moment came when he headed Lucas Moura’s corner beyond Ludogorets’ goalkeeper, in the 13th minute of the game.

In November 2019, he became Tottenham’s third-highest all-time goalscorer in official competitions, and now with his 200th goal, he has joined Jimmy Greaves and Bobby Smith in Tottenham’s exclusive “200 goals and counting” club.

When asked during a post-match interview if he intends on breaking Greaves’ all-time record of 266 goals, Kane explained how difficult it is to focus on both playing and on record-breaking, but promised to keep the goals coming.

He said: “[Beating records] is not on my mind. You guys will let me know when I get the next one, but it is hard to take in when you are playing, I think once you finish you take it all in. I have to keep on going.”

Jose Mourinho, who was pleased with his team’s performance, dubbed Kane as a “club legend” and backed him to break Greaves’ record.
