Juventus Sack Igor Tudor After Eight-Game Slump
Juventus have dismissed head coach Igor Tudor after a disastrous eight-match winless streak that culminated in a 1-0 defeat to Lazio last Sunday, 26 October.
The 47-year-old Croatian football manager – who took charge in March following Thiago Motta’s departure – leaves the club sitting eighth in the Serie A rankings, six points adrift of leaders Napoli.
Tudor, a former Juventus defender who won two league titles during his playing career in Turin, initially guided the side to a fourth-place finish last season and Champions League qualification. However, the current campaign has unravelled rapidly, with Juve collecting only five points from their last five league matches and failing to score in four consecutive games.
In an official statement, the Italian club confirmed on Monday, 27 October, that Tudor and his staff – Ivan Javorcic, Tomislav Rogic and Riccardo Ragnacci – had been “relieved” of their duties.
“The club thanks Igor Tudor and his entire staff for their professionalism and dedication over the past few months,” the statement concluded..
Massimiliano Brambilla, coach of the reserve team, will temporarily take charge for the fixture against Udinese on Wednesday, 29 October.
Tudor departs as Juventus face growing pressure to salvage their season, both domestically and in Europe, where they have earned just one point from their opening three Champions League games.
