Fans of Justin Bieber are convinced that he is still not over his ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez.

On Wednesday, 2 April, Bieber posted a meme via Instagram Story. It shows a clip of Gollum – a character from “The Lord of the Rings” film franchise – holding up the One Ring with wide-eyed glee.

“Girls on social media when they get engaged,” the 31-year-old “Yummy” singer wrote alongside the meme.

In response, fans believe that Bieber was intentionally throwing shade at Gomez, who notably announced her engagement to music producer, Benny Blanco, with plenty of close-up photos of her ring (and of her getting lovey-dovey with her fiancé) on social media last December.

Bieber and Gomez dated on and off between December 2009 and March 2018. Afterwards, Bieber went on to propose to model Hailey Baldwin in July 2018, and they tied the knot two months later.

Recently, Bieber has displayed unusual behaviour both in public and on social media, causing fans to be concerned about his physical and mental welfare.

However, many think that it’s in response to Gomez’s engagement, leading to the rumour mill speculating that his behaviour is contributing to his alleged marriage troubles with Baldwin, with whom he has an eight-month-old son named Jack.
