JUST IN: Hinda on track after first altercation
Veja Hinda yesterday won his first fight at the IMMAF World Amateur Championships in Belgrade, Serbia against Mo Zubair of England.
Hinda, who is considered the seventh best senior featherweight fighter (65.8 kg) by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF), forced Zubair to surrender in the second round with a guillotine grip around the neck.
Hinda steps into the cage today against Mika Rasanen from Finland.
The 19-year-old Ronaldo Feris lost his junior welterweight fight (77.1 kg) against Pyry Kiviluoma from Finland in the third round yesterday.
Geraldo Bok unfortunately also had to bend the knee in his senior bantamweight fight (61.2 kg) against Alessio Ksouri (42nd in the world ranking) from Italy. Bok fought bravely, but Ksouri was named the winner after the three rounds with a unanimous points decision.
The junior lightweight (70.3 kg), Stefan Gilge (19), fights today versus Micha? Borowski from Poland in his first fight. The inexperienced Namibian will gain good experience against Borowski, who is fifth on the IMMAF world rankings.
Gilge unfortunately lost his fight with a technical knockout.
Arno Jacobs fights Mohammad Saleh Rooshan of Iran this afternoon in his first senior strawweight fight (52.2 kg).
