Idris Elba: I Tested Positive for COVID-19

British actor, Idris Elba, has revealed that he has tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).

In a video posted on his Twitter account on Monday, 16 March, the 47-year-old “Luther” star told his followers about his diagnosis.

In the caption, he wrote: “This morning I tested positive for Covid 19 [sic]. I feel okay; I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus.”

In the video itself, Elba – accompanied by his wife, Sabrina Dhowre, who has yet to be tested – said that they will provide updates on his condition.

Pleading fans to “stay positive and don’t freak out”, the actor also encouraged them to carry out preventive measures against COVID-19.

He said: “Now’s the time to really think about social distancing, washing your hands. Beyond that, there are people out there who aren’t showing symptoms, and that can easily spread it … if you’re feeling ill, or you feel like you should be tested or you’ve been exposed, then do something about it.”
