Harry Maguire Stubborn over Greece Arrest

After his arrest in Greece following an alleged confrontation with local authorities, Manchester United skipper, Harry Maguire, has finally broken his silence over the incident.

The 27-year-old footballer was found guilty on Tuesday, 25 August, on several charges including aggravated assault, resisting arrest and attempted bribery following an incident at a nightclub the week before.

The incident involved two men approaching Maguire’s sister, Daisy, and allegedly injecting her with an unknown substance that made her faint. This led to a scuffle, with the police arriving to break up the confrontation.

He was handed a 21-month suspended prison sentence, but stated that he would appeal the court’s decision.

In a recent interview with a sports publication, Maguire said he mistook the officers as kidnappers and thus resisted arrest, stating that he was “scared for my life”.

He added: “I don’t feel like I owe an apology to anybody. An apology is when you’ve done something wrong. I regret putting the fans and the club through this.”
