Gladiators lose friendly

Paulus Shipanga, Brave Gladiators’ head coach, believes the team will be able to showcase their talent more in due course.
He said this after his side was defeated 2-1 by the Mares of Botswana in a friendly match played at the National Stadium in Gaborone on Friday.
The match formed part of Botswana’s independence celebrations.
Botswana’s goals were scored in the 18th minute by Gaonyadiwe Ontlametse and Nondi Mahlasela in the 38th minute. Namibia pulled one back in the 85th minute through Ivonne Kooper.
Shipanga said that the first minutes were quite shaky for his squad.
“We were a bit shaky in the first minutes. I don’t know if it was because of the crowd. By the time we wanted to settle down, we were already two goals down. There were a bit of individual errors which caused us goals. But the match gave a couple of players their debuts.
“The match wasn’t entirely bad and it’s just a matter of working longer with players. We came back stronger in the second half also,” added Shipanga.
