Fyre Festival 2 Postponed Again Amid Permit Chaos

The long-promised revival of Fyre Festival has once again hit a wall, with organisers announcing an indefinite postponement just weeks before it was scheduled to take place.

Ticket holders were notified of the development via email on Wednesday, 16 April. Originally set for 30 May until 2 June in Mexico, the event has been delayed, with full refunds issued and no new date or venue confirmed.

“FYRE Festival 2 is still on,” the organisers promised their patrons. “We are vetting new locations and will announce our host destination soon. Our priorities remain unchanged: delivering an unforgettable, safe, and transparent experience,” they added.

Despite earlier claims that the festival would be held in Isla Mujeres, and later Playa del Carmen, officials from both locations denied any knowledge of the event. Controversial promoter Billy McFarland – best known for the catastrophic 2017 Fyre Festival that ended in global ridicule – insists permits had been secured and shared documents on social media to support his claims.

Fyre Festival 2 tickets – which were launched in February for prices up to £1100 – which organisers promised would provide an “unforgettable” experience. Yet no artist line-up was ever revealed, and confusion over the event’s legitimacy continued to grow.

McFarland, who was released from prison in 2022 after serving time for fraud relating to the infamous festival’s previous iteration, maintains that the event will eventually go ahead. However, with no confirmed location and growing scepticism, many are questioning whether Fyre Festival 2 is just history repeating itself.
