Despite the setbacks musicians have been facing due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Namibian music industry has recorded numerous wins this month.
Lioness’ music was featured on DJ Cuppy’s popular Africa Now show on Apple Music, Skrypt represented Namibia when he dropped bars on the final series of Stogie T’s Freestyle Fridays and, not to forget, One Blood’s Warakata reached a million views on YouTube last week.
On top of these wins, the game was blessed with these standout singles garnering numbers in the form of streams and views on various music platforms.
Feeling You – Sunny Boy featuring Top Cheri
Sunny Boy and Top Cheri gave the streets something to be excited about when this song dropped. From the moment you press play, the raw and unique sounds by both musicians remind you why they continue to remain relevant.
The time it was released was also crucial for the way it was received as it was probably the first song on ViralCom.
You Had A Chance – Kay-Z Bearens
This is rapper Kay-Z Bearens’ first single for the year. Released last Saturday, You Had A Chance features Junior Cupper. This song really gives listeners a clear insight into the artistic talent that is Kay-Z Bearens. You Had A Chance embodies a sonic essence that is quite hard to find in younger artists these days. Mukuenze – Phred Got1
After teasing it for days on social media, music producer and rapper Phred Got1 released his new offering Mukuenze on Friday, 26 June. Keeping it in the family, Mukuenze was co-produced by his brother, Motiion.
“Mukuenze in my language, Luchazi, means “the man”. Through hard work, you can be the man. Don’t stop because God’s got your back and you don’t need any approval from others,” Phred Got1 said about his new single.
