Football Clubs Help Find Missing Kids

Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona, Juventus, Real Madrid, and Manchester City are among over 200 football clubs using their social media to help find missing youngsters.
The European Club Association (ECA) and FIFA have teamed up with the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC) to launch an initiative called ‘Football Cares’ aimed at finding missing children across the globe.
International Missing Children’s Day is observed annually on 25 May each year, and the ICMEC usually plans large scale campaigns to build awareness for missing children, to celebrate those who have been recovered, and remember the ones not yet found.
This year, the football world is supporting the initiative, and the Chief Executive Officer of ICMEC, Bob Cunningham is hopeful that their publicity efforts will reach bigger audiences and result in more missing child recoveries.
He said: “On International Missing Children’s Day 2020, we are honoured to have the support of the global football community.“
He added: “With the huge following and global reach that these clubs boast, we hope that someone, somewhere could recognize one of the missing children in the videos and lead to a child being reunited with their loved ones.”
This is not the first child safety initiative for FIFA, last year the world football governing body launched ‘FIFA Guardians’, which was designed to enhance child safeguarding standards within football.
