FA Charges Carlo Ancelotti for Misconduct

Everton manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has been charged by the Football Association (FA) for misconduct during his team’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United on Sunday, 1 March.

Ancelotti was sent off the pitch at Goodison Park by referee Chris Kavanagh, whom he confronted at the final whistle.

The 60-year-old Italian coach was reportedly angry after the Video Assistant Referee disallowed what he believed was a late Everton winner. He attempted to protest against the decision, prompting Kavanagh to show him a red card.

On Monday, 2 March, FA released a statement regarding the incident.

They said: “Carlo Ancelotti has been charged with misconduct for a breach of FA Rule E3. It is alleged that the Everton manager’s language and/or behaviour on the field of play … amounts to improper conduct.”

Ancelotti has until Thursday, 5 March, to respond to FA’s charges. If found guilty, he will have to pay a fine, plus he may receive a touchline ban for the Toffees’ match against Chelsea this Sunday, 7 March.
