Despite finishing last in the recently concluded Confederation of Southern African Netball Associations (Cosana) tournament, the Desert Jewels have set their sights on the African Netball World Cup qualifiers.

Namibia ended third on the final log with two points. Of the six games the team played in the tri-nations series, they won only one. Malawi won the series – and all their matches, collecting 12 points.

Zimbabwe took second place with four points.

Despite the outcome for Namibia, Sunette Burden, the team’s coach, believes that it was a great experience and learning curve for the players, against much higher ranked countries.

She said the team has now shifted their focus to the Africa netball qualifiers, which will take place in Pretoria from 20 to 27 August.
