EPL Reinforces “No Room for Racism” Campaign

The English Premier League (EPL) have decided to reinforce their “No Room for Racism” campaign, following the racial abuse suffered by England players during their Euro 2020 qualifying match in Bulgaria on Monday, 14 October.

This phase of the “No Room For Racism” campaign will be visible at the next two rounds of all EPL matches, specifically from Saturday 19 to Sunday 27 October.

The EPL will display an anti-racism video at stadiums before the start of every game. Raheem Sterling, who was among the racially abused England players, will take a lead feature in the video.

Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool, Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham and Everton goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, will also be featured in the campaign’s promotional material.

The campaign is strongly supported by the Football Association, EFL, Professional Footballers’ Association and anti-racism campaign group, Kick It Out.

The Premier League have also urged supporters to take action and report such incidents – they have created platforms to make the reporting of discriminatory behaviour easier – and developed training for stewards to ensure they are empowered to deal with such discriminations.
