England Claim Their Spot in the World Cup Quarter-Final

England’s memorable 3-0 win against Senegal on Sunday, 4 December, has secured their spot in the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals against France.

The match – which took place at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, Qatar – opened with a slow start, as both the African and British sides tested the waters.

However, things started to heat up just before halftime, when midfielder Jordan Henderson scored England’s first goal in the 38th minute with an assist from his teammate, Jude Bellingham.

The next goal arrived three minutes into half-time, when midfielder Phil Foden assisted captain Harry Kane who then sent the ball flying past Senegal goalkeeper, Édouard Mendy.

Striker Bukayo Saka’s quick footwork secured the final goal at the 57th-minute mark, as Foden was once again on hand to assist.

The win means that England will face France on Saturday, 10 December, at Al Bayt Stadium in what could be “the biggest test our team will face”, according to England manager, Gareth Southgate.

Currently, it’s unclear if forward Raheem Sterling – who has just flown back to the United Kingdom after an armed invasion of his family home – will be able to make it to the next match.
